Job Description


The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing strategic alliances that expand Business Information Services (BIS) distribution capabilities into new adjacent markets identified in the Business Unit strategic plan. This includes Value Added Resellers (VARs), technology providers relied on by our clients to access information, joint product development, lead gen, and co-marketing opportunities. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for successfully implementing and growing these relationships to maximize revenue and market share potential, as well as explore any potential M&A opportunities with an alliance partner. The position reports to the BIS Director of Strategic Alliances, and will work closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, Client Services, and Consulting services teams to maximize the opportunities as they support the business’ strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with existing and new alliance partners
  • Identify viable new partner opportunities and explain actions plans to pursue a business relationship
  • Lead the negotiation of partnership contract terms
  • Work with internal stakeholders across Experian to ensure partnership success and alignment with business objectives and opportunities
  • Adapt value propositions to ensure they are properly targeted to the relevant partner market opportunities
  • Develop intelligence on the competitive landscape and market trends and incorporate into business unit strategy and M&A planning cycles

Qualifications


A successful candidate will be:

  • Strategically oriented to quickly assess the scope of an opportunity with a prospective alliance partner and how it connects with the Business Unit growth plans
  • Client/partner engagement focused to maximize joint strategy and partnership development
  • Highly collaborative and effective in navigating internal product, sales and operations teams to drive the successful implementation of co-created partner programs
  • Exceptionally achievement oriented with a bias towards determined action, persistence, and resilience that translates seamlessly to a fast-paced, high performance environment

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience identifying, closing, and nurturing strategic alliances
  • Ability to grasp strategic objectives of potential alliance partners and develop a compelling proposition that creates mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Leadership and consensus-building abilities with a proven track record of coordinating and mobilizing resources productively
  • Proven record of success negotiating complex agreements
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Naturally curious and superb critical thinker
  • BS/BA and related work experience required, MBA a plus (or equivalent experience)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and education. This position is also eligible for a variable pay opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off including paid parental and family care leave, an employee stock purchase plan and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
